Tanzania AA Hope

"Mmmm…beya. A coffee with an excellent body. Oh yes, this is a soft, sweet and mild coffee with wine and chocolate notes and a berry finish. It’s from the villages around Mbeya in southern Tanzania."

The Hope Project was given its name by the farmers from around Mbeya. It has significantly increased their incomes, and given them hope.

As each farmer harvests so little each year, their coffee is collected together and centrally processed in one of 23 Hope Project processing stations, which ensure that the fermentation of the coffee cherries is controlled to ensure the highest possible quality. The farmers are rewarded for delivering red ripe cherries, picked at just the right time. They also receive a second payment at the end of the crop if the project has a profitable year.

The AA in Tanzania AA Hope refers to the larger than average-sized bean.
